Patient Care in the Cardiac Care Unit
The Cardiac Care Unit at Piedmont Eastside Medical Center provides specialized care to patients with cardiac and vascular conditions. A typical day in the CCU may involve caring for patients with conditions such as chest pain, cardiac dysrhythmias, CHF exacerbation, hypertensive emergency, AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, and pulmonary embolism. Our CCU nurses must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, think critically, and make sound decisions quickly to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
