RN or LPN For Intermittent Catheterization One-time Instructional Home Visits
We are hiring RNs and LPNs for reinforced teaching of intermittent catheterization (IC) via one-time instructional home visits.
Key Responsibilities;
Patient assessment:
Evaluate the patient's physical and cognitive abilities to determine if they can safely perform self-catheterization, including dexterity, vision, and understanding of the procedure.
Anatomy and physiology education:
Explain the structure of the urinary system, including the bladder and urethra, to facilitate understanding of catheter placement.
Procedure demonstration:
Clearly demonstrate each step of the catheterization process, including hand hygiene, positioning, catheter insertion, and drainage, using appropriate sterile technique.
Equipment selection and use:
Educate patients on the different types of catheters.
Hygiene practices:
Emphasize the importance of proper perineal hygiene before and after catheter insertion to prevent infection.
Pain management strategies:
Discuss techniques to minimize discomfort during catheter insertion, such as using lubrication and proper positioning.
Complications identification:
Teach patients how to recognize signs of potential complications like infection, bleeding, or discomfort, and when to contact their healthcare provider.
Psychological support:
Address any anxieties or concerns the patient may have about performing self-catheterization, promoting a positive attitude towards self-management.
Practice and feedback:
Provide supervised practice opportunities for the patient to perform the catheterization procedure while offering feedback and guidance.
Discharge planning:
Ensure the patient has access to necessary supplies, understands the frequency of catheterization, and knows how to obtain refills.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of patient education sessions, including the patient's understanding, progress, and any concerns raised.
Compensation: $80.00 per visit which includes travel stipend. Visit typically takes 30 to 40 minutes as these clients have received initial instruction from Urologist.
Job Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
Schedule: Make your own appointments. Patients need to be seen within 24-48 hours.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years in catheter care (Required)
License/Certification:
Must be an LPN or RN
Must have your own Professional Liability Insurance Policy
Must have you CPR Certification
