We are currently looking to an Accountant to join our Accounting team at our home office in Charlotte. This employee will perform professional accounting work including the examination, analysis, maintenance, reconciliation, and verification of financial records and ensure compliance with accounting and auditing standards. This person will also be responsible for the company’s day-to-day US payroll systems and ensure employees receive accurate and timely pay while complying with all relevant laws and regulations.
In this position, you will be required to:
- Research, analyze and retrieve data to prepare and maintain complex accounting records, summaries, and reports
- Create spreadsheets and other related forms, reports, and documents for internal and external audits
- Generate and prepare various tax files used in state and local tax filings
- File and reconcile various regulatory state and local taxes to the GL
- Assist with month end, yearend, and state tax audits
- Monitor, audit, reconcile, and balance a variety of data and transactions related to the day-to-day operations of the business
- Assess internal controls, including risk assessments, and reviews of risk areas
- Ensure system accuracy for record keeping
- Maintain, analyze, prepare, and input payroll data using an automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll
- Assist management and staff in interpreting and applying US payroll laws, regulations, and policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws
- Provide payroll information required for various audits
To be successful in this position, an ideal candidate will have:
- 2 years of relevant experience with a strong understanding of general accounting principles OR a Finance/Accounting Degree
- Ability to comprehend business information such as product information, pricing, emails, technical procedures, and tax codes
- Ability to author business correspondence, interpret reports, and effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and external parties.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office software such as Excel and Outlook
