What are the responsibilities and job description for the 25-26 Speech Language Pathologist Site TBD position at Piedmont Public Schools?
- Participates in evaluative process, eligibility, placement, and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team meetings.
- Develops IEP goals, lesson plans, and instructional materials that meet the district ‘s curriculum goals as well as the individual needs of each student.
- Evaluates student’s learning/social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares reports relating to student’s progress.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided, materials available and needs and capabilities of the child.
- Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and the parents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of assigned students.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Cooperates and consults with general education classroom teachers and other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, modifications, and accommodations to be used with students in special education.
- Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student’s progress, areas of need, and program goals.
- Creates an effective learning environment conducive to small group and individual therapy sessions.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
- Abides by all district, state and federal laws, policies, and procedures, including timely completion of documentation.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and professional development activities, and serves on committees as required.
- Maintains appropriate emotional stability, physical health, personal appearance, and personality.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Terms of Employment: Number of calendar days and compensation based on approved certified schedule and employee work calendars
Evaluation: Evaluation by site principal and/or assistant principal in accordance with BOE Policy DNA Teacher Evaluation
Physical Demands:
- Ability to routinely and continually bend, squat, stand, walk, or climb stairs.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to do outside duties in inclement weather.
- Ability to support and stabilize students with physical disabilities.
