Staff Accountant
Piedmont Service Group has been providing HVAC services to clients in NC, SC, and VA since 1971!

Position Summary : The Staff Accountant will oversee the financial operations of the HVAC company, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and compliance. This role requires a hands-on approach in reviewing daily accounting functions, such as accounts payable / receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience with industry-specific financial processes, and a commitment to accuracy. This role is perfect for candidates with a 2-year accounting degree and / or those with equivalent work experience in accounting, especially in HVAC or similar industries.
Essential Functions :
Perform daily accounting functions, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, and account maintenance.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Reconcile bank accounts and credit card transactions, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reporting.
Maintain and update financial records, contracts, and documentation for audits.
Assist with job costing, project accounting, and tracking of expenses specific to HVAC projects.
Monitor inventory records, equipment purchases, and depreciation schedules.
Provide administrative support to the finance department and assist in developing process improvements.
Monitor and review reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Collaborate with relevant teams to implement corrective actions and enhance compliance procedures.
Develop and maintain detailed documentation of compliance reviews and findings.
Qualifications :
Education : A 2-year degree (associate's degree) is preferred but not required.
Experience : A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is mandatory, preferably in the HVAC, construction, or related service industries.
Strong understanding of job costing, WIP (Work in Progress) accounting, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
Proficiency in accounting software (WennSoft a plus) and advanced knowledge of Excel.
Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Travel Required
Travel to branches within the organization may be required from time to time.
