What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Officer position at Piedmont Triad Airport Authority?
The function of the Security Officer will be to patrol the ramp area of the Airport, keeping an elevated level of visibility. The Security Officer will report suspicious activities to the PTAA Police Department and will not take any type of enforcement actions while on patrol. Patrols will consist of foot and vehicle patrol. Security Officers must be able to work in various weather conditions. Officer must be able to pass the Driver’s Training course for ramp duties. Must attend and pass badging class. The officer will attend Field Training with the Airport Security Manager and Senior Security Officer. Subject to surprise inspections by TSA.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Conducting random badge checks in the secured areas of the ramp.
- Patrol ramp areas keeping an elevated level of visibility.
- Report any suspicious activities to the PTAA Police Department.
- Assist PTAA Police with door alarms.
- Inspecting fuel trucks and other approved vehicles along with individuals with valid SIDA Badges at the South Gate, who are allowed into the Secured Area/SIDA.
- Inspecting individuals & vehicles at the North Gate who have approval. This is to include person(s) being escorted into the Secured Area/SIDA. Both the escort and the Escorted person(s) identification
- Report to Communications once an hour by radio ensuring no suspicious activity has been committed.
- Report criminal activity, fires and other emergencies requiring a rapid response. Patrols by vehicle and on foot to ensure the Ramp areas are safe.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Patrol parking lot areas keeping an elevated level of visibility.
- Report any suspicious activities when necessary to the PTAA Police Department.
- Report to Communications once an hour by radio ensuring no criminal activity has been committed.
- Report criminal activity, fires and other emergencies requiring a rapid response.
- Patrols on foot to ensure the parking tunnels are safe.
- Patrols parking lots / deck in a vehicle or on foot; checks vehicles; inspects gates, and other areas; detects unusual conditions; reports dangerous or defective lots, sidewalks, parking lot lights, or other hazardous conditions.
- Assist when needed as a Traffic Control Officer, patrolling the curbs on the upper and lower levels of the Airport Terminal, generating tickets and warnings from handheld computer or ticket book. The Traffic Control Officer will also monitor the parking pay stations and enforce any actions as needed.
