Job Description:
The Piedmont Triad International Airport Authority (PTAA) is seeking committed, dependable, qualified candidates with some communications, dispatching or other public relations experience. At the PTAA, airport communications are a key member of the airport’s public safety department. Telecommunicators are part of a team dedicated to helping provide the public with a pleasant and safe experience while traveling through the Piedmont Triad International Airport. Airport telecommunicators are expected to approach their work with a positive, helpful, customer service mindset, striving to impact individuals and groups in a manner consistent with the goals and values of the PTAA.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Monitors and operates the CCTV system. Telecommunicators must be able to identify small, seemingly insignificant details that appear to be suspicious or out of place. Telecommunicators must be able to multitask while maintaining continuous visuals on the CCTV. Telecommunicators must also be able to work and stay alert without supervision.
- Receives incoming routine and emergency calls from the public and airport tenants.
- Dispatches and maintains contact with police, fire, security, FAA, TSA, maintenance, parking, other airport personnel, and mutual aid as required via analog and 800 MHZ radio systems.
- Operates and monitors a variety of computer programs, including CAD, local, state and national information networks.
- Maintains accurate status and documentation of police and fire activities in CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch).
- Visually monitors security and alarm systems – including internal and external doors, remote gates, fire alarms, smoke detectors, and sprinklers, in order to assist in the maintenance of terminal security.
- Assists the public with complaints, information, lost and found or other customer service needs.
- Performs other related duties as required.

- 12 hour shifts

- Proficiently perform tasks demonstrating an appropriate level of detail and accuracy, while remaining calm and collected.
- Effectively communicate with a diverse array of individuals, including the ability to elicit information from those who may be irate or upset.
- Ability to think clearly and concisely, analyze data from a variety of sources, and make rapid decisions and judgments in response to emergency requests for assistance
- Applicant must possess the skills to multi-task in emergency and non-emergency situations
- Ability to manipulate various computer software applications (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Windows)
