Position Purpose: Piedmont Virginia Community College seeks an innovative and collaborative individual to join the faculty as a twelve-month Clinical Coordinator of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Appointment Date: July 1, 2025, or as soon as possible. The successful candidate will teach a maximum of 15 credits per semester (fall/spring) and ten credits in the summer, which may include day, evening, and weekend off-campus or distance education courses. PVCC desires applicants committed to the community college mission; teaching, learning, and student success; integration of learning outcomes assessment into course development and teaching; use of current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction; and other responsibilities that contribute to the progress of the college.

Duties And Responsibilities
Overseeing all clinical affiliate sites for the program. The coordinator will work directly with the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Director and Division Dean and will be responsible for the following:
- Managing student clinical competencies and performance evaluations, including scheduling students for clinical rotations and clinical record keeping in Trajecsys.
- Correlating and coordinating clinical education with didactic education and evaluating its effectiveness.
- Teaching in-person and online/hybrid didactic and clinical courses.
- Serving as a liaison at clinical affiliate sites between clinical staff and PVCC students enrolled in the Sonography program including weekly clinical site visits.
- Supporting the Sonography program director in all aspects of administration of the program.
- Maintaining current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development.
- Maintaining current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress.
- Participating in the accreditation and assessment processes.
- Managing the contracts between the college and the clinical affiliate sites and investigating prospective new clinical sites.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
- Hold an academic degree no lower than an associate degree
- Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, and educational theories and techniques,
- Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
- Hold current credential(s) specific to the Abdomen and OB-GYN certification.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong commitment to the community college mission and philosophy, students, and teaching in a community college.
- Commitment to academic advisement and mentoring of students.
- Ability to teach during day, evening, and weekend hours and travel to locations mainly within Central Virginia
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a field related to imaging sciences or education.
- Additional credentials in Vascular Sonography or Echocardiography.
- Experience with online teaching
- Experience teaching in higher education, especially within a community college
- Experience advising and mentoring students
- Experience working with a diverse student population
- Familiarity with the use of instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning.
- Experience with active learning, team-based learning, and/or other student-centered teaching style.
- Experience developing online courses in a college setting.
