Position Title : Emergency Medical Services Program Director
Department : Health and Life Sciences
Employment type : Full-time Faculty, 12-month, exempt
Work Schedule : Flexibility to work 40 hours weekly between 7 : 00 a.m. to 7 : 00 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7 : 00 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays, and occasional Saturdays and Sundays. This full-time (exempt) position that provides services in person for students at college and community locations, mixed with virtual / hybrid course offerings.
Position Purpose :
Piedmont Virginia Community College is seeking an innovative and collaborative individual to join the faculty as a twelve-month Faculty-Ranked Program Head of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) . Appointment Date : May 15, 2025. The successful candidate will administer the EMS program and teach a maximum of 15 credits per semester (fall / spring) and 10 credits in the summer, which may include day, evening, and weekend, off-campus, or distance education courses . The approximate salary range for a twelve-month faculty is $75,000-$90,000, depending on education and experience. PVCC desires applicants with a commitment to the community college mission; teaching, learning, and student success; integration of learning outcomes assessment into course development and teaching; use of current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction; and other responsibilities that contribute to the progress of the college. Finalists will be invited to present a teaching demonstration.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's / Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or related field.
- National Registry Certification as a Paramedic
- Virginia Office of EMS Education Coordinator Certification
- Minimum of two years of education coordinator experience
- Minimum of two years of occupational experience
- Documented education or experience in instructional methodology.
- Academic training and experience equivalent to that of a paramedic
- Experience in the delivery of prehospital emergency care; and
- Knowledge about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Standards, and about evidence-informed clinical practice.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
