What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Expeditor position at Pier House Restaurant?
The Pier House is looking for experienced Food Expeditors to join our Culinary Team!
The primary responsibility of the Expeditor is to serve as a liaison between the front of house and back of house staff. The Expeditor ensures that kitchen orders are prepared in a timely manner and check all orders for accuracy before they leave the kitchen.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure the efficient flow of orders from the servers to the culinary staff
- Ensure orders are being prepared with the correct priority
- Assist in the final preparation of dishes
- Check dishes before delivery for accuracy, presentation and temperature
- Transfer important information between the kitchen and the wait staff when a customer has a particular request or dietary need
Job Requirements:
- At least one (1) year of previous culinary experience; fine dining experience is preferred
- Ability to work with a team in a fast-paced environment
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills in order to communicate with both front of house and back of house employees
- Must be friendly and have a positive attitude
- Must follow all procedure manuals and safety regulations
- Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, twist and reach.
- Must be able to lift/pull/carry up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to heat, fumes and airborne particles
