The primary responsibility of a Server is to ensure the guest has an enjoyable dining experience by providing exceptional customer service in order taking, serving of food & drink, and attending to guests needs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Memorize menu items including daily specials
- Greet guests with a friendly and inviting attitude
- Assist guests in food and beverage selection by presenting the menu, offering cocktails and appetizers, suggesting courses, explaining the specials, identifying appropriate wines, and answering food preparation questions
- Transmit orders to the bar and kitchen by inputting the guest’s selections into the POS system accurately, identifying special dietary needs and requests
- Serve beverage orders by picking up and delivering from the bar; garnishing with accompaniments from service bar area
- Ensure that the meals come out of the kitchen accurately and are brought to the guests table by the food runner in a timely manner (Pool and Beach servers will be responsible for the delivery of the guest’s order)
- Maintain table setting by ensuring the removal of plates and utensils as courses are completed and the replenishing of utensils and the refilling of water glasses throughout the cycle of service
- Respond to additional guests’ requirements by inquiring of needs and observing the dining process
- Obtain revenues by totaling guest charges, issuing the guests check, accepting payment and returning change or credit card to guests
- Conclude the dining experience by acknowledging the guest’s choice of restaurant/hotel and inviting guest to return
- Complete assigned “side work” which may include the preparation of utensils, condiments, napkins, table decorations, etc. for use during the following service
- Adhere to all sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage policies
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- At least three (3) years of previous food & beverage serving experience is required; fine dining experience is preferred
- TIPS certified is preferred
- Must have excellent interpersonal, customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with a team in a fast-paced environment
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills in order to communicate with both front of house and back of house employees
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, twist and reach
- Must be able to lift up to 35lbs as needed
- Must be able to have continuous use of hands and arms
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to heat, fumes and airborne particles
- Serves assigned to work at the pool and/or the beach will frequently be exposed to warm-to-hot outdoor temperatures
