What are the responsibilities and job description for the HOUSEPERSON SUPERVISOR (Venue Operations) position at Pier Sixty LLC?
Job Summary: Responsible for the supervision of the Venue Operations House Person Team to set up of tables, chairs, linens, and perform other duties related to the set up and breakdown of event rooms, while maintaining Pier Sixty’s high standards of quality. Ensure proper cleanliness of room space and lead and supervise team in completing set ups and break downs in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead a crew of house persons in the set up and breakdown of event space from start to finish.
Maintain a neat and organized work area
Assist with ordering of linen for events
Oversee and ensure linen and lumber rooms are kept clean, organized and with ample product. Monitor on sight par levels.
Monitor any load in of production crews and keep an eye out for the best interest of Pier Sixty
Lead team in completing assignments and tasks in a timely manner
Assist captains and Banquet Service Managers during events.
Monitor gallery and lobby for cleanliness ensuring spotless mirrors and floors. Remove boxes. Breakdown tables when there are no functions
Monitor and refresh guest bathrooms during events and spot check throughout the day. Refresh paper goods in dispensers as necessary. Empty trash as needed
Set event rooms per diagram.
Stack and store equipment in lumber-room when not in use
Assemble and breaking down the dance floors and maintain cleanliness.
Place linen and skirting on all tables for functions.
Set tables with water glasses, pads, pencils and candies for meetings unless otherwise instructed.
Pin-spot tables.
Refresh rooms in between functions and room turns.
Move all lumber for room turns.
Vacuum ballroom daily. Perform deep cleaning as needed.
Clean windows and ledges.
Spot clean chairs. Perform deep cleaning as needed.
Clean, organize and maintain storerooms.
Spot clean acoustic walls and moveable Partitions. Perform deep cleaning as needed.
Assist in scheduling of Venue Operations House Persons
Attend BEO in the absence of management
Travel, as necessary, to different properties/venues.
Perform all reasonable requests by the management team.
Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
Follow proper time keeping policies and procedures
Travel, as necessary, to different properties/venues
Utilizing and driving golf cart or loading cart to move supplies form one pier to the other would require a valid driver license.
Assist coworkers with completion of assignments when needed
Perform any general cleaning tasks
Keep work area clean and well organized
Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
Perform all reasonable requests by the management team.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
High School graduate or equivalent preferred
Prior hospitality/events experience required
Three or more years’ experience as an event house person or similar
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
Must have a positive attitude about service, teamwork, and motivation to go above and beyond
Ability to speak some of the English language in order to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
Ability to deal effectively with internal and external guests in order to diffuse frustration and obtain information needed in order to resolve problems and offer solutions quickly and effectively.
Ability to read and understand diagrams of floor plans, lighting and any other necessary information for proper room set up.
Ability to lead a team from start to finish.
Ability to demonstrate leadership abilities, strong work ethic, and able to operate independent of direct supervision.
Ability to make judgment decisions in the absence of management
Ability to work independently or in a team setting
Must have strong attention detail skills to ensure maintenance and quality levels.
Able to work flexible schedule in order to accommodate business levels.
If Driver License acquired, must ensure safe driving and transport of supplies, materials, tools, equipment and other products and must adhere to annual driver license background checks to ensure validity for driving.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions, including meeting productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance
Ability to lift and carry 50lbs; ability to load, unload, push, pull up to 100lbs
Ability to wheel, load, unload push and pull items on a hand truck, dolly, or rack weighing up to 300lbs
Ability to withstand extreme temperatures
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly
Ability to stand, bend, stoop on a consistent basis
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to lift, push, pull, hold and reach tools and equipment such as tables and chairs.
