In support of Pierce College District’s mission, vision, and core themes, the Faculty Recruiter and Human Resources Specialist performs administrative and confidential support duties for the Vice President of Human Resources, campus Vice Presidents of Learning and Student Success, and college Presidents relating to faculty recruitment, adjunct (part-time faculty) onboarding, and professional development.
The position manages the full-time and part-time faculty recruitment processes; maintains all records related to recruitment and credentialing; develops related reports, contracts, and correspondence; and serves as a liaison between faculty and administration related to provisions of the negotiated agreement. As a team member of both Learning and Student Success and Human Resources, this position actively supports and engages in Pierce College’s goals for equity and inclusion in order to provide access and support for our diverse community of learners.
This position reports to the Vice President of Human Resources. This position requires regular and consistent attendance and may be eligible for 1 -2 days of remote work once established in the position.

As a contributing member of the Human Resources team, the Faculty Recruiter and HR Specialist will support the full cycle recruitment efforts in the areas of full-time and part-time faculty recruitment, as well as, provide backup recruiting support in other areas as needed.
Full-time Faculty:
Under the direction of the Vice Presidents of Learning and Student Success and in collaboration with Human Resources, manage the recruitment process for full time faculty positions; actively participate in employment fairs, outreach, and networking events.
Develop timelines for recruitment; develop position announcements and post positions in applicant tracking system (NeoGov/NeoEd); develop evaluation tools; screen applications for minimum qualifications; assist in determining adequate applicant pools; schedule interviews and coordinate scheduling with the committees, deans, and vice presidents.
Develop and update Faculty Recruitment Guidelines; schedule and attend screening committee meetings to orient committee on processes, policies, and procedures; serve as a resource to screening committees for resolution of both procedural and technical issues; collaborate with Pierce College Federation of Teachers (PCFT) President, deans, and the District Affirmative Action Officer on committee appointments.
Communicate with candidates regarding interview schedules, letters of intent, processing of initial salary placement and maintain recruitment records.
Update the status of positions in the applicant tracking system; notify Human Resources of the status of the recruitment processes; prepare and maintain recruitment data.
Prepare, issue, track and maintain full-time employment contracts, partner with Employee Learning and Development (ELAD) and Instruction on annual full-time faculty onboarding each September.
Part-time Faculty (adjunct):
Under the direction of the Vice Presidents of Learning and Student Success and in collaboration with Human Resources, manage the recruitment process for part-time faculty positions and general part-time faculty applicant pools.
Review current process and revise or modify to increase the viability of applicant pools.
Provide assistance and guidance to deans on part-time faculty position development and recruitment process.
Compose position announcements and post part-time faculty openings and pools to NeoGov.
Manage recruitment process through NeoGov and screen applications for minimum qualifications and completeness.
Guide hiring managers through the selection process.
Track part time faculty hires, update the status of positions in NeoGov; notify Human Resources of the status of positions.
Prepare and maintain recruitment data.
Faculty Onboarding:
Work to enhance the current adjunct onboarding process in collaboration with Employee Learning and Development (ELAD).
Manage and maintain process to provide up to date, timely, and relevant information pertaining to the employment and culture at Pierce College.
Partner with instructional department coordinators on recruitment and hiring processes to ensure new hire information is received timely.
Request email and Canvas accounts as part of onboarding process.
Serve as back up to Human Resources staff in data entry of new adjunct hires in Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
Partner with Employee Learning and Development in the maintenance of Faculty Central (intranet site).
Interpretation and Application of Rules, Policies, and Negotiated Agreement Provisions:
Assist Vice Presidents of Learning and Student Success in their communication between faculty and administration, supporting consistent contract application for administration.
Serves as initial point of contact for faculty issues related to, hiring, and other negotiated agreement provisions, triaging questions and responding on referring as appropriate to the vice presidents.
Apply rules and regulations pertaining to the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and the Washington Administrative Code (WAC).
Maintain and update faculty Reduction-in-Force (RIF) units and pre-qualification of courses; notify faculty within established timeframe as to their primary RIF; provide opportunity to apply for additional RIF units.
Disseminate information to the Vice Presidents for Learning and Student Success and the Vice President of Human Resources.
Faculty and Instructional Support:
In collaboration with key stakeholders college-wide, maintain and update salary and professional development information in the faculty database.
Prepare full-time faculty contracts and addendums; annually update HRIS to reflect tenure status.
Review full-time faculty data entry of Human Resources' support staff to ensure contract units, compensation, payroll schedule (i.e. balloon payments) are accurate.
Respond to requests for faculty data/info as it pertains to HRIS system and processes.
Maintain Faculty Credential Certification forms and the credential/course approval database for all full-time and part time faculty; receive and process all official transcripts; update credential database as approved by the appropriate dean.
Represent the department on various committees and councils in support of shared governance.
Manage faculty outlook email lists.
Other duties as assigned.
Faculty Contract Negotiations:
Serve as confidential assistant to the Chief Negotiator and the Administrative Bargaining Team.
Attend pre-bargaining planning sessions and assist with preparations for bargaining.
Schedule bargaining sessions between the Federation and Administration; attend bargaining sessions; take minutes intended for joint use.
Compile and organize final proposals and tentative agreements.
Update and revise negotiated agreement with tentative agreement language and provide to Administration for approval and Federation for ratification.
Other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time administrative - exempt position. The anticipated start date for this position is May 16, 2025. The primary work location will be at Pierce College at Fort Steilacoom. Occasional travel to Pierce College campuses an/or other sites may occur. Standard work hours are between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, however, hours will vary with occasional evening and weekend hours required. This position may is eligible for 1 -2 days per week for telework once established in the position. This position requires regular and consistent attendance.Salary & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $71,208.00 to $88,101.00 annually; new hires typically start at $78,000.00. Our paycheck is just part of the total compensation package. Physical Work Environment
This position is required to work indoors in an open office environment, which requires visual concentration on detail, dexterity, precision, and is subject to frequent noise and interruptions. This position operates in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This position may be required to work outdoors during recruiting events.
