General Overview
Under the general supervision of the Recreation Department Director, this position assists with professional duties consisting of, but not limited to, planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and supervising part-time and seasonal staff along with development and implementation of programs.
Major Duties
· Assists director in planning, organizing, developing, scheduling, enforcing rules, evaluating recreation, special events, facility rentals and overseeing the day-to-day operations of all the facility concessions.
· Responsible for assisting with hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating part-time and seasonal staff and volunteers; assigns work schedules. Trains staff on cash handling policies, housekeeping, customer service and working as a responsible team member.
· Assists with scheduling facilities and supervising conditions of facilities such as set-up and breakdowns of facility equipment and resources.
· Maintains safe and secure facilities; makes safety checks and ensures the safety of patrons.
· Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment, assists with distribution and ordering of supplies and equipment.
· Assists director with preparing and administering individuals program budgets as appropriate, monitors expenditures and payroll of direct reports in accordance with established procedures.
· Provides support to administrative staff with program registration, facility booking; answers telephones, assists with financial transactions including deposits, cash drawer set-ups, balances daily money intakes, etc.
· Assists with marketing and promotions of the facility and programs including selling sponsorships, preparing and distributing information through print material, radio, newspaper, and social media.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
· High school diploma and a minimum of three years of experience in public recreation, or physical education, or closely related field. Preference will be given to applicants with additional education or experience in a related field.
· Must possess a valid driver's license.
Skills and Abilities
· Ability to use basic computer software including spreadsheets, social media, and recreation management software.
· Considerable knowledge of recreation sports rules and regulations.
· Availability to work evenings, weekends, and overtime.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and the public.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32,448.00 - $42,182.00 per year
