Data Engineer

How to be Successful in the Role: This highly complex and evolving area of IT requires a commitment to continuous learning to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in ETL development and data management. Interested candidates should be committed to, and find professional satisfaction in, exploring and understanding source data as well as troubleshooting data pipelines to ensure data quality and integrity.

A successful employee will be collaborative, client focused, and have a strong background in ETL development and experience within a modern cloud architecture environment leveraging infrastructure as code, containerization, and code standardization. A successful employee will also be experienced with data-oriented programming languages and data visualization tools (Pentaho, SQL, Python, R, PowerBI/Tableau, etc.).

Core Daily Responsibilities:

• Design, build, support, and optimize the infrastructure required for reporting services and data extraction, transformation and loading processes.
• Recommend and implement process to improve data quality, data reliability, and database performance.
• Establish relationships with business partners and suppliers to provide technical solutions through the analysis of business workflows and an understanding of business needs.
• Work with the team to establish and reinforce disciplined software development processes and standards, ensuring error recovery procedures are deployed.
• Expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data engineer who enjoys optimizing existing data systems and building them from the ground up.
• Expertise in data-oriented programming languages and data visualization tools such as Pentaho, SQL, Python, R, and PowerBI/Tableau is highly desired as is a working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A resume and cover letter are required for consideration.
• A Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer sciences, business/public administration or related field, AND
• Four years of information technology or business analysis experience.
• Additional education or experience which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute equally on a year of year basis for the recruiting requirements.
