General Laborer/Driver
Purpose of Position:
This position deals with the unloading, sorting, processing and loading of recyclables; operation of a commercial motor vehicle to transport recyclables and general equipment/facility maintenance; assigned tasks will rotate and vary according to daily facility needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily and in a timely manner. The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.
- Sorting and processing recyclables.
- Unloading, loading and operating a commercial motor vehicle transporting recyclables.
- Equipment and facility cleaning, maintenance and minor repairs. Complete required inspection
- and transportation forms and reports.
- Insure the safe operation of equipment completing all safety checks; report completed and/or needed maintenance to the facility supervisor.
- Must follow facility operating procedures as provided to workers. Must attend all scheduled training.
- Other duties as assigned by the MRF Supervisor and Administrator.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training is also recognized.
- CDL license with air brakes is required;
- One year of paid experience driving a commercial motor vehicle requiring a CDL license required;
- Must have knowledge of traffic, recycling and safety laws and geographic knowledge of Pierce County.
- Must be able to manipulate boxes and barrels weighing up to an estimated 100 lbs. in and out of the truck, via the lift gate and by pushing around the facility.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Skid-steer and forklift operation, and operation of recycling equipment such as balers and conveyors preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.43 - $18.92 per hour
