What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operator 1- Solid Waste/ Recycling position at Pierce County?
Purpose of Position:
Under the general direction of the Operations Manager deals with the unloading, sorting, processing and loading ofrecyclables; operation of commercial motor vehicle and other heavy equipment totransport recyclables and general equipment/facility maintenance; assigned tasks will rotate and vary according to daily facility needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training is also recognized.
- CDL license with air brakes is required;
- One year of paid experience driving a commercial motor vehicle requiring a CDL license required;
- Must have knowledge of traffic, recycling and safety laws and geographic knowledge of Pierce County.
- Must be able to manipulate boxes and barrels weighing up to an estimated 100 lbs. in and out of the truck, via the lift gate and by pushing around the facility.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Skid-steer and forklift operation, and operation of recycling equipment such as balers and conveyors preferred.
This Position is a FT 40 hours per week. Starting Salary $23.65-$25.00 per hour. (Depending on qualifications) plus fringe benefits. See attached Position Description.
Hours would be 06:00 A.M. to 02:30 P.M. Monday- Friday, occasional Holidays.
