We are accepting applications for a Human Resources Analyst to join our team. This position will support a variety of human resources programs including leave management, benefits and wellness, performance evaluations, and tracking attendance and related employee relations. Pierce Transit employees participate in the Washington Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) administered by the Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Employees must elect to participate in PERS Plan 2 or PERS Plan 3. Employees who have participated in the Tacoma Employee’s Retirement System (TERS) may elect to continue to participate in that system.
Employees in the PERS system do not pay the 6.2% Social Security tax but are still responsible for a 1.45% payment for Medicare.
Pierce Transit offers $5,000 per year (up to a total of $18,000) in Tuition Assistance after your one-year anniversary. Certifications, and career skills must be connected to a job at Pierce Transit.
Pierce Transit provides an ORCA Card benefit for each employee and a family member. This benefit provides free access to service on Pierce Transit, Sound Transit, Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro, Kitsap Transit, Seattle Monorail, Seattle Streetcar, King County Water Taxi and Kitsap Foot Ferry.
PAID LEAVE:
Full-time Pierce Transit employees receive 11 paid holidays, 2 personal paid holidays, eligibility to earn 2 wellness days, 6 days of major sick leave, and 22 days of paid time off (PTO) per year. PTO accrual rates increase per policy.
The following functions are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties:
- Provides technical information and consultation to employees, management, and public regarding benefits/compensation, federal and state leave laws and other human resources matters and policy interpretation.
- Supports the Agency’s Wellness program and committee by planning events, providing information, demonstrations, and supporting all wellness activities.
- Provides day to day quality assurance and ongoing maintenance of NEOGOV Perform, Onboard, and E-Forms HRIS system database(s). May participate in and support the auditing of bi-weekly payroll and other HRIS functions.
- Conducts testing and implementation of HRIS system upgrades and troubleshoots problems. Responds to and resolves a variety of escalated issues.
- May prepare FMLA/PFML eligibility packets and/or designations.
- Analyzes Operator attendance and provides daily reports on unexcused absences.
- Responds to unemployment claims and hearings. Provides documentation and explanation(s) for employer’s position.
- Supports new employee benefit orientations and open enrollment activities. Conducts exit interviews.
- Tracks and monitors ORCA card activations and deactivations ensuring an accurate database.
- Assists in recruitment efforts, including outreach, and participating in interviews.
- Demonstrates regular and consistent attendance.
- Performs related work as required.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Associate degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field and
- Four (4) years of directly related experience.
- Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Desired:
- Public sector experience desired.

- Individuals must pass a background check.
Physical Requirements
- The position involves light physical demands, such as exerting up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- May occasionally need to move boxes from 5 to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions
- This position works in an office environment relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards.
Education Requirements
Any required education must come from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U S Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent.
