What are the responsibilities and job description for the Zero Emission Coordinator position at Pierce Transit?
Pierce Transit's Maintenance Division is currently seeking a Zero Emission Coordinator to provide analysis, coordination and facilitation in the administration of the Agency’s electric fleet. Reporting to the Maintenance Technical Services Manager, this position monitors, analyzes, and implements improvements to the Agency’s bus electrification, alternative fuels and fuel cost saving efforts.
As the Zero Emission Coordinator, you will coordinate and monitor activities and efforts to transition to sustainable technology and practices as well as inform internal and external stakeholders on a variety of matters, progress and alternative fuel advancements.
- Researches, evaluates, and implements process improvement solutions focused on an agency-wide strategic sustainability framework, gaining efficiency and maximizing effectiveness of the electric fleet and associated processes and procedures.
- Participates in development of requests for proposals, contracts and bid documents for purchases. Processes payments to vendors and monitor budget. Establishes and maintains business relationships with various vendors and manufacturers. Prepares status report and expenditure reports.
- Monitors program fiscal activities and identify opportunities for efficiencies and savings.
- Identifies market trends and opportunities in zero emissions vehicles and related business engagement opportunities.
- Leads and coordinates the layout, installation and adjustments of charging locations. Monitors and analyzes charging locations and make recommendations as needed. Coordinates with City and County teams and identifies areas for knowledge sharing.
- Conducts physical system inspections and audits.
- Documents safety certification of battery electric bus systems and charging equipment.
- Monitors road performance and communicates data to Planning to assist with bus route coordination and to obtain the most efficient use of electric buses.
- Works collaboratively with employees, supervisors and leaders across the agency to coordinate, plan and deliver policy updates, infrastructure design and construction, technology investments, electric bus procurement and delivery.
- Provides knowledge and experience to convey maintenance requirements in zero-emissions technology, infrastructure, and bus functionality. Monitors and analyzes the maintenance schedule and performance of the Agency's electric fleet.
- Provides updates to managers and senior leaders regarding the electric bus program.
- Develops and delivers presentations as requested.
- Demonstrates reliable and consistent attendance.
- Performs related work as required.

PAID LEAVE:
Full-time Pierce Transit employees receive 11 paid holidays, 2 personal paid holidays, 6 days of major sick leave, 22 days of paid time off (PTO) per year, and the ability to earn up to 2 Wellness Days by participating in a qualifying wellness activity and the annual survey. PTO accrual rates increase per policy.

- Associate degree in a related field, and
- Three (3) years of experience in sustainability, renewable energy, project coordination related to fleet administration or a closely related field.
- Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
- Public sector experience desired.
