Position Summary
The Business Development Manager’s focus is hunting for new business and maintaining a current book of business. The duties include identifying and sourcing new customer industry targets, prospecting and maintaining defined quotas and sales objectives, growing, and developing a sales pipeline and delivering weekly updates based on activity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Getting new business onboarded by any means necessary
- Entertaining new prospects and current clients
- Travel as necessary
- Develop a strategy focused on revenue and profitability growth and customer satisfaction
- Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs
- Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers
- Arrange business meetings with prospective clients
- Promote the company’s services, addressing or predicting clients’ objectives
- Keep records of sales, revenue, invoices etc.
- Develop and grow a healthy pipeline of opportunities that align with company targets and objectives
- Present sales solutions to prospective customers while ensuring the company is well positioned within the market
Qualifications
Work Experience
Required:
- 3 years of brokerage/3PL sales experience
- Experience managing multiple customers simultaneously
- LTL and Final Mile experience or Warehouse and International experience
Prefered:
- 5 years of brokerage/3PL sales experience
Education
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Prefered:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field
Technical Knowledge
Required:
- Well versed with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Strong typing skills
Additional Skills/Notes
Required:
- Ability to remain patient and calm under pressure
- Top-notch customer service skills
- Skill to quickly pivot from one task to another and reprioritize throughout the day
- Stellar persuasion skills and ability to close sales
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed
- Pre-existing book of business that can be transferred to the company
- Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English in a professional manner
