GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The Virtual Reality Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance in immersive technology. This role supports student learning though training and instruction in Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) application development, as well as managing the operations of the Virtual Reality Lab. The specialist will assist faculty and students in utilizing the lab for various projects and programs, ensuring a high-quality learning experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with Faculty to conceptualize and design realistic and engaging virtual reality scenarios that align with curriculum concepts
- Manage the daily operation and maintenance of Virtual Reality Lab equipment
- Assist in delivering programs for K-12 schools, community groups, and public audiences.
- Train and manage staff, volunteers, and interns on lab software and equipment
- Develop training materials and project guides for lab use
- Support the development of Virtual Reality Lab camps and workshops
- Assist in completing lab-related projects for staff and corporate partners
- Enforce policies and procedures for safe lab use.
- Provide training, technical support, and documentation to faculty and staff on effectively using VR scenarios in education
- Responsible for troubleshooting, reporting, and client consultation requests specifically for the virtual reality use within targeted courses
- Will develop, implement, and monitor a plan for update and maintenance of VR equipment
- Conduct rigorous testing and quality assurance to provide that the VR scenarios are functional, error free, and conducive to effective learning
- Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in VR, simulation-based learning, and education to drive excellence and innovation in scenario development
- Assists with the preparation of course proposals, curriculum updates, and the construction of programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with integrating technology into curriculum virtual reality platforms
- Experience in at least three areas: VR, AR, games development, mobile app development, or
A/V hardware installation. - Experience teaching or demonstrating VR and game development techniques
- Proficiency in Windows and macOS environments
- Experience with specialist software and leading small group training.
- Experience with video-conference training and presentations.
- Be knowledgeable of computer software, including the latest software applications and operating systems for immersive learning within a virtual reality environment for an educational setting
- Able to pay attention to detail, maintain confidentiality, work independently of supervision
- Able to deliver excellent customer care
- Able to apply critical thinking, problem solving, and judgment skills
- Skill in integrating technology into curriculum and other educational services
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in a relevant field such as Interaction Design, Games Design, or Computer Science
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to travel and visit internal and external individuals in various locations.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds occasionally
