A Hardware Industrial/Residential Sales Associates primary role is to gain knowledge in order to successfully provide quotes and sell industrial/residential items which are facilitated through the hardware department.
Main duties include but are not limited to, assisting customers by providing customers with quotes based on material requisitions, assuring pricing and/or cost is consistent with manufacturers, submitting the quotes in the proper format within a timely manner, and following up to fulfill the order if the submitted quote was selected for the job.
May require a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Works under immediate supervision of Assistant Hardware Manager and Hardware Manager and must rely on instructions. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Responsibilities:
- Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Handling customer phone orders or custom requests with courtesy and professionalism.
- Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information to the best of your ability or involve management when necessary.
- Greet customers when entering or leaving department and provide answers to customer inquiries regarding Hardware/Industrial/Residential Parts and/or merchandise.
- Receiving and processing material requisitions from vendors to quote an accurate price.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels. Source material, stock and non-stock.
- Verify receipt of orders coming in from other sources.
- Daily monitoring of orders to assure deliveries are made as per customer request.
- Work with Lumber warehouse to coordinate delivery schedules.
- Engages and maintains a professional working relationship with vendors which may include ordering and checking in the vendor at the time of delivery.
- Seek cost saving items to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain customer pricing and contact information to ensure it is always current.
- Assist customers with their daily needs and verify requirements are being met especially buy outs.
- Ensure the customer is completely satisfied with our overall service while working with them and address any issues or concerns promptly.
- Follow up with any leads or requests provided by the Outside Sales Representative.
- Be prepared to make deliveries when all other options fail.
- Rotation of stock according to expiration dates.
- Receives, opens and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking the invoice against items which are received.
- Stocks shelves and displays with new or transferred merchandise.
- Displays merchandise on shelves or tables to attract customers and promote sales, verifying each item has signage or tags.
- Maintaining a clean department by performing the following tasks: Clean display cases, shelves and aisles.
- Report mechanical problems with any equipment through the use of Work Order Forms.
