Job Summary
The Team Lead, Audio-Video-Lighting (AVL) Services, oversees project installation activities, ensuring adherence to Pierson's practices and procedures to achieve project objectives. This role involves supervising AVL Installation Techs across levels, coordinating with Project Managers, and acting as the primary contact for clients onsite.
Essential Functions

Project Coordination : Serve as the primary onsite contact for clients and Project Managers, ensuring project plans are executed according to scope, schedule, and quality standards. Team Supervision and Development : Oversee and support AVL Installation Techs and Apprentices, including task delegation, skill training, and Employee Performance Reviews (EPRs) and timesheet approvals. Address workplace issues and enforce policies. Resource Management : Ensure proper allocation of tools and supplies, maintain asset tracking, and manage inventory restocking. Technical Expertise : Operate a variety of tools, install AVL technology, and stay informed about emerging technologies. Assist in job costing and bid preparation as needed. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) : Execute all steps of relevant departmental SOPs. Communication : Provide regular updates to Project Managers and team members, ensuring clarity on project scope, schedule, and expectations. Quality and Safety Oversight : Maintain high standards of work area cleanliness and orderliness. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and secure handling of tools and vehicles. Team Collaboration : Work collaboratively on tasks, such as cable pulls, equipment installation and clean-up of installation site and company vehicles. Driving : Driving of non-CDL company vehicles as required by the Team Lead or Project Manager. A valid DOT card is required for this position (medical exemptions will be considered). Duties as Assigned : Perform any tasks as required by the Project Manager.

Technical Skills : Intermediate-level competency with general computer systems and Microsoft applications, and AVL systems. Knowledgeable in mounting techniques and low-voltage cabling. Problem-Solving : Ability to analyze technical procedures and resolve complex issues. Professionalism : Maintain a professional demeanor in all work environments. Communications : Possess clear and persuasive communication skills, with the ability to listen and seek clarification. Supervisory Skills : Experience in overseeing technical teams, with an emphasis on safety and efficiency. Analytical Skills : Capable of handling abstract and concrete variables in technical instructions. Leadership Skills : Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a technical team. Experience in supervising and training team members.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position supervises up to 12 AVL team members ranging from Apprentice to Tech 2.
Progression and Qualification Requirements :
Apprenticeship : All new hires start as an Apprentice, providing an opportunity to learn AVL Services" specific processes and standards. Knowledge Test : Apprentices must pass a knowledge test within two weeks of employment to assess their understanding of key AVL concepts and procedures. This will determine their placement within the AVL Services structure. Qualification for Team Lead : Passing the required knowledge and skill tests qualifies the individual for the full responsibilities of the AVL Team Lead role. Ongoing Development : All AVL team members must participate in regular training and workshops for continuous skill improvement.
Required Education and Experience
Two years or more of experience using hand and power tools.Two years or more of experience in a customer-facing role in the service industry.Class C (passenger vehicle) driver's license with a clean driving record.Experience with tasks listed in Essential Functions.Six months of supervisory experience with at least two direct reports.Two years or more of experience in AVL installation or related fields.AVIXA CTS Certification or able to obtain within the first six months of employment.High school diploma or equivalent.Medical Examiner's Certificate or able to get one at Pierson's expense within the first 90 days of employment.
Preferred Education and Experience
Professional experience in AVL installation or a related field (e.g., pro-audio, lighting, networking, low- or high-voltage electrical), including the installation of flat-screen TVs, interactive panels, projectors, projection screens, and audio systems.Experience working in the construction industry.Experience with technology in K-12 / Higher Education, House of Worship, or Healthcare market sectors.AVL industry certifications.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
Upon offer of employment, selected candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and Motor Vehicle Record, Federal Criminal History, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record, and Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification background checks at Pierson's expense to determine if the candidate has the clearances required to work in designated facilities.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position with a 40-hour work week, Monday through Thursday, with potential work on Fridays, based on project assignments and mandatory meetings. Overtime is possible with management approval.
Travel
Over 75% travel, primarily throughout the U.S. East Coast. Out-of-area and overnight travel required, with reimbursement for travel in a personal vehicle.
Reports To
This position reports to the Project / Senior Project Manager, AVL Services.
