JOB TITLE : Wireless Network Engineer (Private Network Core) DEPARTMENT : Design, Sales, and Engineering REPORTS TO : Director of Engineering WIRELESS NETWORK ENGINEER SUMMARY : The Network Engineer is a senior member of the Pierson Wireless technical team who is a subject matter expert in a single area or in multiple technology areas essential to the development or deployment of Pierson Wireless products or services hereafter referred to as PW Products.The Network Engineer is a member of the Strategic Engineering team and provides technical leadership in the design of PW Products. This includes but is not limited to product research, creation and maintenance of product design documents, evaluation of 3rd party products and development of prototypes. The Network Engineer also supports our business team in monetizing PW Products by identifying product differentiators, by estimating product delivery costs and through providing sales engineering services to the sales teams. The Network Engineer supports PW Product deployments through the creation of operational procedures, product deployment tools or templates, product training programs, and tier 3 product support.The Network Engineer is competent in the theoretical aspects of the technical solutions and in the hands-on practical aspects of the solutions.It is desirable that the Network Engineer have a firm working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. Has the ability to complete basic physical installation of server hardware and radio equipment. And, has the natural ability to solve complex problems.This Network Engineer position is focused on UNIX system administration, IP switching and routing, and 3GPP 4G or 5G core construction, configuration and operation. WIRELESS NETWORK ENGINEER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develop and maintain a private network core architecture standard for Pierson Wireless Private Network products. This includes standards for network IP assignments, virtual networks, network interfaces, routing strategies and 3GPP optimization parameters.
  • Develop, in collaboration with Sales and Marketing, Network Operations, and pier Network Engineers, a definitive set of Pierson Wireless Private Network products defining specific key components, manufacturers, and configurations to address Pierson Wireless target product markets and use cases.
  • Design and develop product prototypes to demonstrate product feasibility, capabilities and features to company leadership and potential customers.
  • Perform or facilitate training to Pierson Wireless workgroups on PW Products to ensure deployment workgroups are prepared and equipped to deploy PW Products effectively and efficiently.
  • Support Sales and Marketing in the promotion and sales of PW Products through collaboration on promotional materials, customer presentations, participation in trade-show events and general technical sales support.
  • Support Pierson Wireless deployment teams by preparing deployment standards or procedures for PW Products such as end-to-end solution architecture, default design requirements, design templates, required implementation tools, deployment processes, procedures, close-out package requirements, and provide Tier 3 support on all technical matters within Network Engineer's focused area.
  • Maintain high level of competence in each target focus area through individual research, participation in trade or industry groups and practice. (UNIX system administration, IP switching and routing and 3GPP 4G or 5G core construction, configuration and operation).
  • Individually and in collaboration with other team members, conceive, explore or pursue the creation of new PW Product ideas.
  • Maintains primary technical relationships with strategic OEM partners.
  • Follows safety policies for safe work.
  • Operates the company provided equipment and vehicles in a safe manner and follows all local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Abides by all policies and procedures as identified in the Pierson Wireless Employee Handbook.
  • Reports time worked accurately and with integrity.
  • Submits all receipts and expense records.
  • Maintains open and accurate communication with other employees.
  • Provides support to other team members and staff as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

  • WIRELESS NETWORK ENGINEER TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS :

  • 5% travel with overnight lodging is to be expected with the chance for more. The primary days of travel are Monday through Friday.
  • WIRELESS NETWORK ENGINEER QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Has a functional to advanced level of understanding of the 3GPP Mobile Broadband standard beginning with release 8 for LTE and release 15 for 5G New Radio.
  • Has a thorough understanding of the primary 5G use-cases of Ultra Reliable Low-Latency Communications (URLLC), Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), and Massive Machine Type Communications (mMTC) and can apply their understanding to discuss, develop or demonstrate end-customer applications.
  • Has a thorough understanding of the end-use application(s), the products available, the implementation or operation, and the tools or techniques required to effectively deploy products or services that are based upon or reliant upon Network Engineer's focused areas.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or in an equivalent area that provides education or training in core skillsets related to the job, or documented experience performing required skills that substantiates applicant's qualifications.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate or higher certification, or equivalent.
  • Juniper Enterprise Routing and Switching Associate or higher certification.
  • Proficient in UNIX system operation and administration in the most common variants such as LINUX, Solaris, FreeBSD.
  • Proficient utilizing hardware and software virtualization tools.
  • Highly effective communicator.
  • Confident and a solid contributor in both team and individual tasks.
