Description : Position Summary :

The Bilingual Member Services Coordinator provides a welcoming and supportive presence for seniors accessing programs and services at the Senior Center. This role serves as a primary point of contact, providing consistent agency information to members in both English and Spanish, offering interpretation as needed, answering questions, connecting individuals with resources, and de-escalating potential conflicts. As part of the Member Services team, the Coordinator contributes to a positive member experience, assisting with information requests (e.g., transportation, community services), technology support, and activity programming, including co-escorting field trips. This position collaborates closely with the Programming and Member Services team and interacts regularly with other agency departments, such as meals, social services, and the food bank.

Essential Job Duties :

  • Communication & Connection : Serve as a visible, predictable, respectful, and grounded point of contact, providing consistent agency information in English and Spanish, offering interpretation services as needed, and proactively connecting members with resources. Maintain clear and proactive communication through announcements, newsletters, and individual interactions, ensuring members are informed about policies and opportunities. Welcome and orient new members, fostering a sense of belonging.
  • Enhancing the Member Experience : Cultivate a warm and welcoming atmosphere while consistently and kindly enforcing policies. Empower members to engage with activities, connect, and access necessary information, resources, and supplies (e.g., hygiene products). Proactively engage members to foster a sense of community. This includes the ability to set appropriate boundaries and manage expectations effectively.
  • Gathering & Utilizing Member Feedback : Actively engage with members to understand their interests and gather feedback through formal and informal surveys, focus groups, and by monitoring suggestions. Collaborate with the Member Services and Programming team to assess program effectiveness and incorporate member input into future initiatives.
  • Additional Responsibilities : Follow instructions as assigned and perform other related duties as needed.

Requirements :

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and spoken), including interpretation skills.
  • Experience in social services, maintaining professional boundaries, and working with diverse populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness and / or mental illness.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, consistent, and fair-minded under pressure, with strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of resources available to low-income seniors and ability to research additional information.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational skills, including reliable time and attendance, and ability to adhere to work schedules.
  • A friendly, helpful, and positive demeanor and genuine interest in interacting with seniors.
  • Demonstrated experience setting boundaries and managing expectations effectively.
  • An associate's degree in a related field or equivalent experience in a social services position is required.
  • Work Environment & Physical Demands :

    This position primarily operates indoors within the senior center, interacting regularly with the senior community. Physical demands include frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, and the ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
