Responsibilities
The purpose of the position of the Designer is to create great designs for customers and help them transform their yard to meet their needs.
Education, Prior Work Experience And Specialized Skills And Knowledge
- Two year degree in Horticultural or three (3) years in a garden center sales role.
- Is certified or becomes state Certified within one (1) year of job classification.
- Has a high level of interpersonal skills to communicate well with employees.
- Intermediate level of skills in Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Has the ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Has the ability to use a 10-key calculator.
- Is able to lift 20 lbs. occasionally.
- Is able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
- Is able to multi-task.
- Maintain a professional appearance and always in company uniform.
- Must always be on time for design appointments.
- Return all phone calls, texts or emails within 24 hours.
- Call all customers two days before scheduled appointments to confirm.
- Consult with customers on site to determine their wants and needs.
- Draw base map on each site.
- Draw all landscape plans to scale and deliver to the customer within 14 days.
- Include plant list for all designs.
- Provides additional design hours for customers when appropriate.
- Works with contractor partners to facilitate bids on jobs.
- Sends plant list and measurements to estimator for processing within 10 days of design appointment.
- Complete estimates when needed.
- Presents designs and installation proposals to customer within 14 days of original appointment.
- Work with procurement coordinator to ensure plant material is available for installations and approve substitutions when necessary.
- Be present on all planting job starts.
- Take before and after photos for every job and email to the office coordinator.
- Work in home store as needed.
- Conduct a final walk through with the customer within 7 days upon completion of installation.
- Accepts other responsibilities as assigned.
