JOB GOAL:
- To provide outstanding preventive maintenance services in the care and operation of school system facilities, structures and equipment.
- To assist in maintaining school system facilities to provide supportive work and learning environments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school or trade school diploma or GED certificate
- Two (2) years of experience in HVAC/refrigeration or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act 2002-457.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must have knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions to be observed
- Have the ability to read and understand blueprints and technical manuals
- Ability to perform while elevated above ground; to climb and work from scaffolding, ladders, and heights; and, to work in locations involving heights and/or confined spaces.
- Ability to make estimates of time and material needed for efficient project compleation
- Ability to work in environments and/or situations that require prolonged sitting or standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching
- Physical strength and agility to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert up to 75 pounds of force
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors year-round in noisy, crowded environments, and inclement weather
- Ability and willingness to work after hours and on weekends or holidays as required
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
- Performs preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC equipment and controls as outlined in the equipment service manuals or maintenance check sheet
- Changes air filters at intervals established by the maintenance department and assists in updating schedules when necessary
- Maintains accurate inventories of supplies and equipment assigned to service truck
- Requisitions supplies and equipment needed to carry out assignments and perform duties.
- Completes work orders indicating accurate time, materials, and cost to complete the job.
- Completes work order assignments without close supervision, efficiently and neatly; completes all projects in compliance with trade standards
- Prioritizes tasks and uses time wisely
- Engages in work-related training to increase knowledge and skills as directed and/or for advancement.
- Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility
- Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel
- Works collaboratively and demonstrates effective interpersonal skills when working as a team member or group as assigned
- Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner
- Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
- Properly uses and cares for tools, equipment, and material resources of the school system.
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations
- Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
EVALUATION: Job performance will be evaluated according to the provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Pike Road Board of Education policy on personnel evaluation.
