Position Summary : Control Electrician A is a non-exempt position in the construction, maintenance and repair of substation electrical equipment / systems. Control Electrician A has a 6-8 year working knowledge of 525 kv and below substation electrical equipment, apparatus, and wiring. This position requires work in confined spaces and in elevated work areas, and works with various pieces of construction equipment specific to the trade. Control Electrician A requires an understanding of Electrical Theory with an emphasis on AC, DC circuits, transformers, breakers, etc. The job will require the electrician to install over current / recloser schemes and have a complete understanding of PLC logic. May work independently or with others, occasionally work long hours during emergency conditions. This position should be able to lead / coach subordinates on the crew.
Essential Functions :
- Works safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair, testing, adjusting and troubleshooting work of substation electrical equipment / systems which includes, but is not limited to, work involving the following : Circuit Breakers Transformers Battery Banks and Chargers Control Cable Cable Terminations (Low Voltage) Control Panel placement / installation Control Buildings Cable Tray / Raceways Conduit and duck banks Capacitor bank installations 23kv- 230 kv Circuit Switchers, motor-operated switches Annunciators Fiber Optic Cable
- Responsible for maintaining Company vehicles, test equipment and tools in good working conditions.
- Frequently works in close proximity of energized components with control systems requiring skill and care to protect the client from outages and the lives of themselves and others.
