About the Position:

We are seeking a Bakery Assistant Manager to lead our bakery team in coordination with our Food Service Director. In this role, you will be responsible for managing bakery staff, scheduling, hiring, training, team member reviews, and ongoing coaching and development. You will also take the lead in product development, recipe creation, costing, and establishing best practices for bakery operations. Additionally, you will be making a variety of baked goods, including breads, pastries, sweets, and chocolates, and coordinating with the food service administrator to manage product ordering and staffing needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Staff Management: Oversee scheduling, hiring, training, and performance reviews for bakery staff. Provide continuous coaching and development to enhance team skills.
• Product Development: Lead the development of new bakery products, including breads, baked goods, sweets, and chocolates. Manage recipe creation, costing, and pricing to ensure profitability.
• Operational Oversight: Create and implement best practices for bakery processes, ensuring high-quality production and efficient operations.
• Customer Satisfaction: Ensure all baked goods meet Pilgrims Markets quality standards, while maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
• Compliance: Adhere to Idaho food safety and sanitation laws and regulations.

Essential Requirements:

• Prior Experience: Previous bakery or food service management experience is required.
• Bread Baking Knowledge: Proficiency in hearth bread baking techniques and the use of bakery equipment.
• Independence: Ability to work independently while managing bakery operations efficiently.
• Flexible Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Learning & Growth: A strong desire to continually learn and stay updated on industry trends and store operations.
• Strong Work Ethic: A commitment to delivering high-quality products and maintaining high operational standards.
• Feedback Skills: Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback for team and personal development.
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive motions. Ability to work in both hot and cold environments for extended periods.
• Compliance: Ability to adhere to all Idaho food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Proficiency: Competence in safely operating bakery equipment, including up to 80 qt mixers, rotating ovens, hearthstone bread ovens, proofing cabinets, bread slicers, dough dividers, and more.
• Computer Proficiency: A strong knowledge of excel and bakers math.
