About the Position:
As a Prep Cook at Pilgrim’s Market, you will play a key role in preparing high-quality, fresh food items for our customers. Your responsibilities will include daily food prep, cooking, and assembly, as well as ensuring the kitchen environment remains clean and organized. You will be expected to follow recipes, develop new dishes, and maintain food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation of daily prep and assembly lists for kitchen tasks.
- Prep, wash, and cook vegetables, beans, meats, rice, pastas, and other items as needed.
- Assemble compound salads and prepare cold case items such as meatloaf, lasagnas, and salmon cakes.
- Package, label, and store food items according to company standards.
- Develop and execute new recipes for various kitchen products.
- Perform general kitchen cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of culinary experience required.
- Flexible availability and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong work ethic with a focus on quality and efficiency.
- Ability to receive and provide feedback for personal and team growth.
- Knowledge of and adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to safely handle food allergens, including but not limited to: wheat, dairy, fish, shellfish, eggs, nuts, and peanuts.
- Ability to use basic kitchen tools and equipment safely, including knives, slicers, and blenders.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs overhead and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work on your feet for the entire shift and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and noisy environments for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently and maintain composure in a high-pressure environment.
- Vision corrected to 20/20 or as needed.
- Must comply with all Idaho laws and department standards regarding food safety and sanitation.
- Be able to safely use automated slicer, oven, smoker, range top, fryers, food processor, immersion blender, dishwasher, flat top grill, blenders, juicer, tilt skillet, blast chiller, steamer, labeling scale, knives, and box cutters.
