POSITION : Teacher of the Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Disabilities (Grade 8-12)
LOCATION : Livingston, NJ
HOURS : Monday- Friday 8 : 15 am-3 : 15 pm, 12 months with paid recess
SALARY : $70000.00 to $85000.00

Summary : Pillar High School, an approved private school for students with disabilities, is seeking a dedicated full-time Teacher of Students with Disabilities for grades 8-12 from ages 14 to 21. The ideal candidate will work in a supportive, team-oriented environment, focusing on delivering individualized education and implementing high-quality curriculum tailored to the needs of students with disabilities. Responsibilities include developing IEPs, utilizing assistive technology, differentiating instruction, and collaborating with staff, families, and service providers to ensure the success of each student.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop students’ individualized Education plans (IEPs) and implement a high-quality curriculum while differentiating instruction to meet the needs of each child's IEP.
- Develop lesson plans following curriculum for students with disabilities in compliance with NJ student learning standards
- Use a broad range of assistive technology, lesson adaptation, and instructional strategies to address the diverse instructional needs of students.
- Work collaboratively with professional staff using a team-based approach.
- Provide supervision, guidance, and assistance to classroom aides and one-to-one nurses.
- Follow student’s IEP / behavior plan to enhance learning by enforcing classroom rules and policies.
- Participate during IEP meetings and collaborate closely with families and related service providers to support student needs.
