What are the responsibilities and job description for the Brake and Shear position at Pillar Induction?
SUMMARY
Set up, adjust and operate shears to perform a wide variety of forming, notching, shearing, bending and punching operations on a diversified line of work. Operate punch press to perform operations such as punch, blank, form, etc. on a diversified line of large or small work having close dimension, contour or other requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
1. Set dimensional back and front gauges and side squaring gauges. Adjust shear blade clearance for gauge of stock to be sheared.
2. Improvise gauging set-ups for shearing various angles. Lay out shearing sequences for economical use of materials.
3. May turn and change shearing blades.
4. Make simple angle layouts for shearing as required.
5. Align and secure dies, set stop gauges, stripper, knockout, ejecting and safety devices.
6. Check first and subsequent pieces. Convert and set-up multi-purpose dies for job to be run, improvise standard dies and set-up procedures for adaptation on special work.
7. Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
8. Comply with all safety regulations.

Education and/or Experience
Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma. Requires short term training plus experience of two to three years to become familiar with procedures and methods to become proficient. Certified fork lift license..
Language Skills
Ability to read, interpret and work from drawings, bills’ of material, patterns, templates and specifications. Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one situations with other employees in the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be able to perform metric conversions.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
Other Qualifications
Use measuring instruments incidental to operations.

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is occasionally required to walk, use foot/feet to operate machine, stoop, kneel, reach above shoulders and move from place to place. The incumbent will regularly stand, talk and listen and will frequently use hands to finger, handle or touch. This position requires occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
