SUMMARY

Perform all required operations to wind electrical coils of varied design and size using a variety of types and sizes of copper tubing. Perform operations necessary to repair coils of various sizes and types for customers. Perform operations necessary to assemble, test and check melting furnaces complete from primarily prefabricated parts, units and assemblies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

1. Set up winding machines and related equipment to suit size and design of coil, size of wire, number of winds, and turns, spacing, tops, insulation, etc.

2. Select wire, molds, fixed adjustable fixtures and tension devices.

3. Mill copper ends to proper dimensions; braze tops to conductors, etc.

4. Place insulation, tie and/or tape coils, shellac windings, tag leads and coil for identification.

5. Use measuring devices to set up, adjust and verify to conformance of work.

6. Assemble coils completely.

7. Degrouting and regrouting on regular coils and grouting of furnaces.

8. Mount hydraulic tubing, cylinders and assemblies in accordance with specifications on melting furnaces. Bend and fuse tubing as necessary.

9. Perform hydraulic and water tests to insure proper operation.

10. Requires occasional off-site service calls.

11. Follow all clean – up and housekeeping procedures.

12. Comply with all safety regulations.

Education and/or Experience

Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma. Certified fork lift license. Experience of up to three years necessary to become familiar with methods, procedures, processes and to become proficient with brazing, layout, coil winding, etc. Experience with drill and use of hand tools. Requires knowledge of electrical principles and coil design plus experience background to acquire winding skills and techniques.

Language Skills

Ability to read, interpret and work form drawings, bills’ of material and specifications. Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one situations with other employees in the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be able to perform metric conversions.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Qualifications

Ability to operate various hand and power tools.

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach above shoulders and move from place to place. The incumbent will regularly stand, sit, talk and listen and will frequently use hands to finger, handle or touch. This position requires occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
