SUMMARY
Perform duties necessary to prepare units for and apply prepared paints, lacquers, enamels and other finishes where high quality finish is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
1. Visually check parts and units for proper surface preparation and prepare surfaces as necessary to ensure proper adhesion of paints and covering.
2. Mask off units as necessary.
3. Mix paints to proper viscosity for spraying.
4. Fill spray tanks; adjust spray equipment, air pressures, etc. and apply paints to obtain required finish, coverage and economic utilization of materials.
5. May strip and refinish or blend coverages, mix and match colors, etc.
6. Clean and maintain equipment and spray booth in a clean and safe operating condition.
7. Perform related duties as required such as position or move units and parts.
8. Grind or clean and patch surfaces, sand units, etc.
9. May do brush or roller painting.
10. Follow all clean – up and housekeeping procedures.
11. Comply with all safety regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma. Certified fork lift license. Experience of up to three years necessary to become familiar with paint formulating, spraying techniques, equipment and material and to attain quality standards.
Language Skills
Ability to read, interpret and work from paint formulating standards and the ability to speak effectively in one-on-one situations with other employees in the organization is required.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be able to perform metric conversions.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
Other Qualifications
Ability to operate various hand and power tools.

Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
