Position Summary
The Lead Cook is responsible for providing superior customer service to residents and employees. You will help ensure the dietary department is maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. The Lead Cook plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of the dietary services department. Working under the supervision of the Director of Dietary Services, this individual is responsible for leading and guiding dietary staff, ensuring meal service quality, food safety compliance, and overall efficiency. Additionally, you will participate in on-call duties, training of new personnel, and provide support to ensure the department operates seamlessly.

Job Description
1. Leadership & Supervision :
o Lead, supervise, and guide dietary personnel, ensuring efficient operation of all dietary activities.
o Assign and prioritize tasks to dietary staff, providing clear instructions to ensure daily operations meet the highest standards.
o Provide support and mentorship to staff, fostering a team-oriented environment.
2. Training & Development :
o Conduct initial and ongoing training for new and current dietary staff.
o Monitor staff performance and provide feedback to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, kitchen standards, and organizational policies.
o Support the Director of Dietary Services in implementing ongoing educational programs and workshops for staff development.
3. Meal Service & Quality Control :
o Ensure that meals are prepared and served according to established dietary guidelines and standards.
o Oversee food preparation, portioning, and presentation to meet the quality expectations of residents / patients.
o Ensure meals are provided on time and meet nutritional and dietary needs.
4. Food Safety & Compliance :
o Ensure strict adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
o Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness and proper handling of food and equipment.
o Report any discrepancies in safety or food quality to the Director of Dietary Services.
5. On-Call Duties :
o Be available for on-call shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
o Respond to dietary-related emergencies or issues outside of normal working hours.
o Take charge during on-call shifts, ensuring continuity of meal service and addressing any urgent concerns.
6. Collaboration & Communication :
o Work closely with the Director of Dietary Services to implement departmental goals and improvements.
o Communicate effectively with other departments to address dietary concerns and meet the needs of residents / patients.
o Document and report any staffing or operational issues to the Director.
