San Diego, California Job Description Primary Responsibilities Pillsbury is seeking an Intellectual Property Specialist for its San Diego office. The responsibilities of this role include: Preparing and filing new applications and other essential documents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Reviewing and proofreading a variety of USPTO documents and preparing client reporting letters as well as communicating directly with clients. Researching patent specific inquiries including client inquiries. Monitoring and preparing client dockets and other docket reports. Keeping attorneys abreast of status of patent applications. Conducting and compiling various patent related research. Completing other patent prosecution duties and tasks as assigned with minimal supervision. Responsibilities of this role also include administrative tasks such as preparing client engagement letters; opening new patent matters; conducting conflict checks; managing attorneys’ calendar; processing expense reimbursements; completing time entries; and other administrative duties as assigned with minimal supervision. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess approximately seven years of U.S. patent prosecution experience preferably in a law firm environment as well as thorough knowledge of USPTO rules, procedures, and processes including knowledge of electronic filing and the Patent Application Information Retrieval (PAIR) system. Experience with patent docketing systems is required. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, client service, and communications skills as well as consistently maintain a high level of professionalism and be a dependable team player. Strong organization skills, an exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines is essential since the ability to produce accurate, timely, and high-quality work product is critical for this position. Candidates must possess solid computer skills with full proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite. College degree and paralegal certificate preferred. Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for the position in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act.
