BUSINESS SUPPORT TECHNICAL MANAGER
Role Summary
This position will be the single internal and external point of technical contact for business support functions across the Aristonate and Specialty Surfactants, Essential Surfactants and registered Biocide business areas to ensure business growth and continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversight of the Unified Product Process (Stage Gate) for Business Support Projects
- Manage Business Support unmet needs submissions
- Manage the Business Support UPP project portfolio
- Responsible for Project Management of Business Support projects
- Lead the UPP Business Support project review meetings
- Define timelines, actions, accountability, and milestones for completion.
- Coordinate Lab and Progress Reports on their project portfolio
- Maintain constant interaction with the Aristonates and Specialty Surfactants, Registered Biocides and Essential Surfactants Commercial Managers, Chemists, Regulatory, Product Safety and Quality surrounding Business Support activities to ensure these projects are on schedule.
- Commercial, Customer and Sales Support
- Regular interaction with Commercial Managers and Sales to ensure alignment with T&I (Technical & Innovation) Resources and Efforts
- Address technical calls and inquiries for the Aristonates and Specialty Surfactants, Registered Biocides and Essential Surfactants products.
- Assist Sales and Customer Service on product issues and inquiries at the customer level.
- Manage and distribute technical documentation to customers and sales as needed
- Coordinate sample program of lab produced samples and third-party sample management partners.
- Quality, Product Safety and Regulatory Support
- Oversee Analytical Test Method Development as needed
- Knowledgeable on regulatory landscape and its effects on their technical area
- Provide technical Support on CAS numbers, SDSs, tariffs, new chemical registrations
- Competitive Analyses support
- Evaluate competitive products for performance and composition
- Intellectual Property Support
- Intellectual Property filing and Maintenance
- NDAs
- Competitive IP Awareness and Strategy
- Participate in or lead OIMs and Corporate, Departmental or Business Initiatives as required
- May manage or support the New Claims Task Force and ensure timelines are met.
- May manage technicians and/or chemists as required
- Support and facilitate the initiatives and goals of the Technical & Innovation group.
- Perform and direct teams in a logical, safe, environmentally correct manner.
- Communicate results, both verbally and in writing, in an effective, timely manner to internal and external customers.
- Continually increase knowledge in relevant technical fields.
Required Competencies
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field and 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in project management and ensuring all milestones are achieved in a timely manner.
- Experience in surfactant, biocide or performance additive manufacture, analysis, and applications.
- Experience in communicating technically with external & internal customers and suppliers.
- Experience managing complex projects from start to commercial launch.
- Proven verbal and written communications skills.
- Good subordinate and peer relationship skills.
- Successful record of problem solving through analytical and creative thinking skills.
- Proven quality system skills, including a strong demonstrated belief in continuous improvement.
- Proven concern with working in a safe and environmentally correct manner.
- Travel will be on an as needed basis. It is encouraged to attend customer visits and training, conferences, trade shows, classes.
- Active in relevant professional or trade organizations, notably those associated with Project Management.
