CHEMIST – PHYSICAL AND APPLIED TESTING
Role Summary
This position is a lab-based position involving analyses, physical and applications testing, method development and problem solving to support the HI&I Market Development Technical Manager.
This position is responsible for supporting new and existing products, new application test method development, physical property and application performance testing, and continuous improvement of applied performance tests.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine analytical, physical, and applied performance tests as requested.
- Maintain (standardize, calibrate, repair and clean as necessary) the test equipment and instruments.
- Perform routine non laboratory work, including maintaining the chemical inventory, writing lab reports, presentations, etc.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Responsible Care Management System® including the establishment of policies and procedures, assigning responsibilities, and tracking progress.
Competencies
Required:
- Minimum of a BA or BS degree in Chemistry or a comparable science major.
- Computer skills - word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and database.
- Proven verbal and written communications skills.
- Demonstrated physical manipulative skills needed for general laboratory practices.
- Good people / relationship skills.
- Successful record of problem solving through analytical and creative thinking skills.
- Attention to detail/accuracy.
- Ability to work in a safe and environmentally correct manner.
Recommended:
- Experience with HI&I cleaning tests, physical properties testing (viscosity, foam, density, flash point, etc.)
- Background in SPC, SQC, ISO 9000, TQM, or other quality management techniques.
- Successful experience in new product development or technical service.
