What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic Fleet position at Pilot Company?

Under close supervision performs basic preventive and remedial diagnostics and troubleshooting along with performing maintenance and repairs of truck / trailer and / or automotive vehicles and assists other mechanics in more complex assignments; performs other related duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

Moves parts and components with approved hoists lifts (not all locations have lifts) and dollies to perform maintenance and repair
Removes repairs replaces and adjusts components of major truck and / or automotive systems including but not limited to engine electrical suspension fueling pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Performs remedial diagnostics and troublesshooting on heavy duty diesel and or automotive systems
Performs regular preventive maintenance inspections of truck and / or trailer systems repairs minor problems and completes written form documentation of defects repaired and or needing repair
Uses computerized management systems (Collective Data) to report to and from work logon to work order assignments and create work orders for repairs needed
Performs brake inspection to include lubricating bearings checking and replacing worn components installation of brake shoes and final adjustments of all wheel end components
Repairs minor damage to interior and / or exterior of trucks / trailers and / or other equipment including but not limited to torn seats broken windows door panels and windshields minor dents and cosmetic paint damage
Maintains supports and promotes a safe work environment while complying with all of SC Fuels safety rules policies and procedures

Knowledge of :

Methods materials equipment and safety procedures utilized in the maintenance of ther or either diesel or gasoline engines electrical systems fueling systems Skully system system Tanker plumbing and other systems found in heavy equipment and other vehicles.

Shop math vehicle operations and safety.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Pay Rates Starting between : $25.85 $42.70 / hour

Qualifications :

High school diploma or equivalent certificate required

OSHA Forklift Certification preferred; required posthire

Minimum of three ASE certifications preferred; obtain a minimum of three ASE certifications required posthire

Minimum one years experience in truck or automotive service business required

Certified to perform DOT mid trip tire analysis and Compliance Safety and Accountability (CSA) inspections required

Minimum one years experience with using engine diagnostic software required

Valid state drivers license required; Class A Commercial Drivers license (CDL) preferred

Specialized Knowledge

Basic Microsoft Office skills required; intermediate Microsoft Office skills preferred

Knowledge of using RO electronic recordkeeping system to clock in and out on repairs preferred

Knowledge of truck components and truck preventative maintenance

Competencies

Ability to multitask and manage multiple responsibilities

Strong teamwork decision making and issue resolution skills

Ability to set priorities meet deadlines and resolve problems with a sense of urgency

Travel

Travel required is less than 25%

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Lift up to 50 pounds

Use a handtruck to move objects up to 200 pounds

Squat climb bend and stand for extended periods of time on a daily basis

Exposure to various weather conditions and temperatures

Work around MSDS and DOT placardcontrolled materials

Work around trucks trailers and petroleum hauling equipment
