SUMMARY: The Tour Guide is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all visitors of Arizona Aerospace Foundation, which includes Pima Air & Space Museum, Titan Missile Museum, and Tucson Military Vehicle Museum while facilitating an engaging guided and informative tour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for providing informative and engaging guided tours for the public and private groups including school groups and adult tour groups while being able to communicate information to all levels of visitor understanding.

Responsible to learn the tour scripts provided by the Foundation for all museums and be able to improvise and tailor the tour scripts to meet time restrictions while still providing an entertaining experience.

Responsible for learning how to safely operate all multi passenger tram vehicles while maneuvering through the display grounds with the public present.

Responsible for managing the movement of large groups of people through a public space both by walking and driving a tram while having excellent time management.

Responsible for learning the POS system to sell tram ride tickets.

Responsible for safely collecting and loading passengers on the trams as well as loading and unloading wheelchairs and walkers.

Responsible for assisting with tour and group check ins including school groups and private adult groups.

Responsible for answering visitor questions and monitor visitors to ensure all safety rules are being followed.

Maintain an accurate and current level of knowledge and awareness regarding all museum pricing, tours and grounds.

Responsible for interacting with museum guests, employees, and volunteers in a friendly and professional manner.

Responsible for completing other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to consistently provide excellent customer service.

Must have strong interpersonal and strong customer service skills.

Must have strong public speaking skills.

Must be effective with time management skills.

Must be able to drive a 40-passenger tram.

Must have the ability to legally drive a motorized vehicle, electric cart, and other foundation equipment.

Must be able to have flexible in scheduling and daily duties, includes regular weekend and holiday shifts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to walk and stand routinely through a shift

Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift 50 lbs. and be able to pull/push 150 lbs with or without assistance.

Ability to walk up and down a flight of 55 stair steps multiple times a day; the stairs are metal grid and when standing at the top, it is possible to see 35 feet below.

Ability to work in a confined work area.

Ability to speak confidently clearly and precisely to a large group of people.

Ability to walk on uneven ground throughout the museum property.

Ability to continuously stand for a minimum of 4 hours.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: The Tour Guide is required, at a minimum, to have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. One year cash handling experience, including reconciling a cash drawer, is preferred. Preferred qualifications: Any one of the following:

1-2 years of Experience in group management

1-2 years in historic interpretation

1-2 years in a customer service-based role

1-2 years in public speaking

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English. Candidate will have the ability to read and comprehend simple to moderate instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Candidate will have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Pay: $17.00 per hour
