Wage: $17.00 per hour/part-time

Position Summary:
This position with the Adult Language & Literacy Programs is a great opportunity to earn service hours in the field
of education. In this program, you will have the opportunity to work directly with our adult education students who
are learning the basic computer skills they need to engage safely with online services and resources at home and
to enter the workforce with confidence. Outside of class, this position also provides support to the lead instructor
by collaborating on lesson plans and feedback from students. Training and ongoing professional development
related to adult education and our teaching approach will be provided. This position can provide up to 19 hours
per week.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
● Assist in or teach computer skills classes and work with individuals in the drop-in lab.
● Provide one-to-one support to the adult learners as they practice the new skills such as navigating with a
mouse and keyboard, logging into and sending emails, searching for information online, and navigating
Microsoft Office/Google suites and Zoom.
● Collaborate with the lead teaching team on lesson planning by sharing student needs and challenges you
have observed in class.
● Help students acquire new devices through our scholarship fund. Provide orientation to new devices 1:1.
● Assist with the translation of written materials for students between English and Spanish when needed.
● Provide simple technical support for adult learners and/or volunteers in Zoom or Google Classroom.
● Support Literacy Connects programming one evening/week at the front desk.
● Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
● High school graduate level skills in math, reading, and writing
● Bilingual English/Spanish required
● Dependable with excellent customer service and time management skills
● Patient and flexible
● Clear, concise verbal and written communication and comprehension
● Familiar with Microsoft Office programs. Experience using Zoom and Google Docs is a plus.
Hours: The Literacy Connects office is open 9 am to 5 pm, M-F with some classes and events in the evenings.
