POSITION TITLE: Pima Community College Navigator
SALARY: Hourly, $17.00/hour
Reports to: Alumni Program Manager & Associate Alumni Program Manager
Please note: only PCC students can apply. International students may not work off campus.
Schedule: 15 hours a week; YOTO hours: M – F, 9am – 5pm, with occasional events or tasks done past 5pm or on
weekends.
Organizational Description: Youth On Their Own (YOTO) is a dropout prevention program that supports the high school graduation and continued success of youth experiencing homelessness in Pima County.
Job Purpose: To support & prepare YOTO youth interested in enrolling in Pima Community College and
support the success of current Pima College YOTO youth in navigating the college’s system.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
• Has a schedule that is able to accommodate working hours & total hour requirements.
• Understands how to navigate through Pima Community College’s system and its
different campuses.
• Is reliable, consistent, and has high attention to detail.
• Can effectively navigate standard technologies (Microsoft Word, internet searches,
PCC website, etc.).
• Is willing to learn/practice communicating with empathy and patience and use non-judgmental
language when engaging with youth.
• Is willing to learn/practice performing duties with a trauma-informed care approach and through an
equity lens.
• Has the ability to adapt to different situations in a calm and professional manner.
• Has the ability to communicate and work collaboratively with youth, YOTO staff, PCC staff, etc.
• Preferred: English/Spanish bilingual.
• Preferred: Has experience conducting workshops or presentations to young people.
Job Duties: Student will assist with connecting & engaging YOTO youth to/with Pima Community College,
which may include:
• Co-creating & implement a specific YOTO youth PCC orientation that includes information that is
pertinent to unaccompanied youth experiencing homelessness.
• Co-create and implement workshops on topic areas that address the needs of YOTO youth on PCC
campus (for example, how to study in college, managing your course load while working, etc.)
• Have “office hours” at YOTO or PCC campuses to be available to YOTO youth who have questions
or need help navigating the PCC system (for example, how to enroll, how to contact their advisor,
how to sign up for testing, accessing tutoring, etc.).
• Provide mentorship for YOTO youth PCC students.
• Connect YOTO youth to specific PCC departments as needed.

successfully complete placement.
