Faculty within the CAD program provide instruction in residential, commercial, mechanical, civil, and landscape design and technical drawings.The Computer-Aided Design Department is part of the College’s Applied Technology division, and it is based in the new three-story, 130K sq. ft. Advanced Manufacturing Building at the Downtown Campus, just east of I-10 and Speedway Boulevard.About the PositionThe position is available beginning the 2025-26 academic year. Faculty teach and work a set schedule over a nine-month academic year, August – May, that could include day and evening duties. This position is based at the Downtown Campus. This position would support the Architectural and/or Civil and Land Development Pathways. Software taught include: Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, SketchUp and Twinmotion. The primary disciplines include: Architecture (residential and commercial) and civil engineering. - Instruction & Student Support
- Deliver high-quality instruction in the Computer-Aided Design program, fostering an environment conducive to academic achievement.
- Assist students in developing strategies to achieve academic success and support their professional development.
- Monitor student performance and evaluate their progress, ensuring alignment with course objectives and Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).
- Maintain currency in both subject matter expertise and teaching methodologies, adapting instruction to diverse learning styles and needs.
- Curriculum & Course Development
- Develop and revise curriculum and course materials in alignment with industry standards, academic best practices, and the program’s evolving needs.
- Ensure that course content reflects current industry trends and technological advancements.
- Assess and revise course outlines to ensure clarity, coherence, and effective student learning.
- Faculty Collaboration & Academic Leadership
- Actively contribute to departmental and program development, including participating in faculty meetings and working groups.
- Support adjunct faculty recruitment, training, and mentorship as needed.
- Foster partnerships with industry and community stakeholders to expand educational opportunities and meet local workforce needs.
- Serve as a representative for the department on college-wide committees and initiatives.
- Student Advising & Success Initiatives
- Provide academic advising to students, guiding them through program requirements and academic pathways.
- Collaborate with student success programs such as First Year Experience, Completion Agenda, and other initiatives aimed at improving retention and graduation rates.
- Modalities & Teaching Platforms
- Teach courses across multiple delivery modalities (in-person, hybrid, online) using learning management systems such as D2L.
- Leverage technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

- Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain expertise in subject matter and pedagogical strategies.
