What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher - Cosmetology position at Pima County JTED?
- Prepares curriculum and provides instruction to improve student achievement in the Cosmetology program
- Demonstrates and differentiates instructional methods for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student learning needs
- Have thorough knowledge of Pima County JTED policies that pertain to instruction, students, student discipline, and Arizona State Board of Cosmetology rules and regulations
- Develops a variety of written materials (e.g. syllabus, unit and daily lesson plans, curricular maps, assessments, attendance records, anecdotal communications, etc.) for the purpose of documenting and communicating student progress
- Utilizes and implements classroom management techniques to maintain organization , student safety, and a productive learning environment
- Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of planning instruction, providing feedback
- Participates as a member of an instructional team to promote learning activities for students consistent with the program and district objectives
- Responsible for attendance, instruction, supervision and grading of students, submits reports as requested (grades, attendance, behavior, etc.)
- Engages students in leadership development by serving as an advisor for CTSO (Career Technical Student Organization) , involving students in activities at the local , state, and national levels
- Evaluate effectiveness of learning strategies and outcomes of educational activities and makes necessary provisions to meet learning needs
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, and colleagues at the campus level to improve the overall quality of student outcomes and achievement of established program goals
- Coordinates workbased learning activities for students enrolled in the program
- Maintain the physical facility including equipment and supplies
- Assist in maintaining program certification by the State Board of Cosmetology as necessary
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Must possess a Career & technical Education industrial technology certificate or be able to obtain a provisional CTE certificate
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Three years teaching experience to include career/technical/occupations/vocational education in a certified secondary program is preferred
- Thorough knowledge and application of secondary curriculum and instruction in career/technical/occupational/vocational education, vocational work and apprenticeship programs is preferred
- Must have and maintain licensure as an instructor from the State Board of Cosmetology
- Proof of MMR immunization required unless born prior to January 1, 1957
- Negative TB test (within the last year)
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or be able to obtain one
- Valid Arizona driver’s license
