What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher – Medical Lab Technician position at Pima County JTED?
- Teach medical laboratory assisting curriculum, skills lab and/or work-based learning opportunities for students
- Participate in meetings and trainings organized by industry associations to ensure educator is aligned with the latest trends and practices in the field, and transfer acquired knowledge to students
- Provide constant supervision of students enrolled in the JTED Medical Lab Technician Program
- Have thorough knowledge of Pima County JTED policies that pertain to instruction, students, student discipline
- Responsible for attendance, instruction, supervision, and grading of students
- Maintain good communication with the administration, program manager, counselors, registrar, and attendance clerk
- Serve as advisor of the HOSA CTSO, involving students in activities at the local, state, and national levels
- Assist learners in identifying learning needs and guide to appropriate resources
- Evaluate effectiveness of learning strategies and outcomes of educational activities
- Submit reports as requested, including grades, attendance, behavior, etc.
- Maintain the physical facility including equipment and supplies
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Medical Lab Technician certification is required unless applicant has a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) or BS degree
- Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) certification is preferred
- Bachelor of Science degree in a related field is preferred
- Must possess a Career & Technical Education industrial technology certificate in Health Careers or be able to obtain a provisional CTE certificate in Health Careers
- Two years as a Medical Lab Technician, Medical Lab Scientist and/or related experience
- Three years teaching experience to include career/technical/occupational/vocational education in a certified secondary program is preferred
- Thorough knowledge and application of secondary curriculum and instruction in career/technical/ occupational/vocational education, vocational work and apprenticeship programs is preferred
- May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- May be required to work outside normal working hours
- May be required to travel to perform work functions
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current negative TB skin test (within the last year)
- MMR immunization, required unless born prior to January 1, 1957
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or be able to obtain one
- Valid Arizona Driver’s License

Summary:
