The Pima County Information Technology Department is seeking a Network Engineer Supervisor. This role involves supervising staff, leading projects to implement networking and network security solutions, and providing ongoing support for the network infrastructure. The working environment is team-oriented, technical, self-motivated and meticulous where communication skills are critical.
The architecture includes a high-performance core and data center switching environment built on leading edge networking and security. The work involves everything needed to support reliable and efficient networking service for public facing applications and staff in multiple departments across dozens of locations.
Responsibilities include designing, implementing, monitoring and troubleshooting networks and related security solutions. You will work closely with teammates and users to identify solutions and resolve issues. This role includes technical and team leadership, as well as project planning.
This position may participate in the on-call rotation and off-hours maintenance.

The candidate must successfully test and maintain certification for Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS). This must be in place prior to completion of the training period.
This position is on site with the possibility of part-time Telecommuting after 6 months of initial probation.
Essential Functions:

Develops procedures required to maintain and support on-going computing needs and ensures documentation is accurately maintained;
Creates and maintains capacity plans and disaster recovery plans for the server farm;
Assists in establishing and justifying operating and capital budgets;
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the computing center;
Ensures associated system components and associated jobs are properly scheduled and operational per PCP requirements;
Ensures proper backups and storage management procedures are implemented and adhered to meeting business and disaster recovery needs;
Coordinates, develops, and implements system administration policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards;
Forecasts server growth and provides proactive capacity management;
Coordinates and manages the engineering and delivery of virtual server implementation, support, migration, and upgrade services to the business computing and storage management environment, including the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of server/data storage environment, software release and patch testing, and monitoring and resolving of all related problems;
Analyzes, evaluates, and coordinates resolution and implementation of specific critical computing center components within the IT support environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, university or technical trade school with a major in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems (MIS), or a closely related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment, AND four years of work experience in software development and maintenance AND two years of work experience in the development and maintenance of database systems.
(Experience requirements may be achieved concurrently.)
OR:
Associate’s degree from an accredited college, university or technical trade school with a major in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems (MIS), or a closely related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment, AND six years of work experience in software development and maintenance AND two years of work experience in the development and maintenance of database systems.

Selection Procedure :
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Licenses and Certificates:  Valid driver license is required at time of application.  Valid AZ  driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record. Failure to maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination. Some positions may require appropriate licenses or certifications at the time of appointment or within a specified timeframe, e.g., Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), database certifications.  Some positions require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at the time of application or appointment. Special Notice Items : Some positions will be required to work rotating shifts which includes days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
