We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Diagnostic Medical Sonography Instructor to join our team for day shifts at the El Paso campus. This part-time role offers 20 hours a week, allowing you to share your expertise in Sonography while fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Essential Functions
Develop and evaluate daily lesson plans, incorporating scheduled activities and organized material sequences.
Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based on student needs and the established curriculum.
Track student attendance and coordinate with the Student Services Coordinator or Associate Director for consecutive absences of two or more days. Submit weekly attendance reports to the office management department.
Analyze student success rates, implement strategies to reduce withdrawals, and encourage students to remain enrolled. Maintain an 80% success rate for all program classes.
Record and maintain student grades in alignment with established policies. Submit final grades at the end of each sequence to update records and transcripts.
Assess student performance in coursework and activities, adapting instruction to address specific learning needs.
Organize guest speakers, community service outings, and visits to medical offices or clinics.
Monitor academic progress and notify the Student Services Coordinator or Associate Director if a student’s course average falls below 77%.
Prepare engaging lectures and practical demonstrations for both group and one-on-one instruction.
Guide students through the diagnostic medical sonography program curriculum and offer academic support.
Oversee students in the laboratory, ensuring proper technique during procedures and compliance with safety measures.
Assist in coordinating externships for diagnostic medical sonography students as needed.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
An associate’s degree from an academic institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
Three (3) years of practical experience in Sonography or a closely related field.
Active registration or credentials from a nationally recognized sonography credentialing agency (e.g., RDMS).
Credentials in one or more concentration areas offered (e.g., AB, OB/GYN).
Current license, certification, or credential required by local, state, or federal regulations to practice in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography field.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and general computer skills.
