Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and highly qualified professional to join our Community Development Department. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with the public, promoting economic vitality and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Typical Classification Essential Duties:
- Perform reviews of site plans, floor plans, foundation plans, elevations, foundation details, framing details, and electrical plans, mechanical and section details, and other reviews such as photovoltaic solar plan review.
- Verify plans are in compliance with Pinal County adopted building codes.
- Collaborate with architects, drafting firms, contractors, and homeowners regarding building codes questions.
- Provide answers and guidance to building construction questions and reference building codes.
- Interpret building code and assist with structure design to meet the intent of the building code.
- Help provide technical information.
- Examine commercial, industrial, and residential building plans and specifications to assure compliance with building and safety codes and interpret building and safety codes and Building Safety Department (BSD) policy objectives.
- Identify technical issues and suggest solutions.
- Provide assistance to the public with building code and permitting questions.
- Assist BSD staff with code interpretation, analysis, research, decision standards, and compliance recommendations.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
Minimum Requirements:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Five years of plans examination experience.
- International Code Council (ICC) Building Inspector or Building Plans Examiner (IBC) certification is required within one year of hire.
- A valid Driver's License and Arizona State Driver's License within 30 days of hire.
Special Requirements:
- International Code Council (ICC) Building Inspector or Building Plans Examiner (IBC) certification is required within one year of hire.
- Certification shall be kept up to date.
