What are the responsibilities and job description for the Independent Living Services Director position at Pinal Gila Council for Senior Citizens?
This position is under the direct supervision of the President/CEO and is responsible for Case Management, Arts-n-Meals, Family Caregiver Programs, Health Promotions, Community Education, and Information, including all Community Outreach.
Provides guidance and oversite of the Case Management Department, direct supervision of the Case Manager Supervisor. Gives guidance and direction to the Case Manager Supervisor regarding Case Management, recurrent client challenges, issues affected by financial impact, compliance related issues, quality of care issues, and all other areas which are within the realm of Case Management.
Identifies caregiversat need for support groups, then convenes and maintains these support groups.
Provides oversite of the Arts-n-Meals Program, works closely with our contracted provider to ensure the goals of the program are being met. Assist in planning and tracking the current programming, identifies gaps in providing social and recreational needs under this program. Works with contractor to ensure program is within budgetary guidelines.
Provides oversite of the Health Promotion Program, ensures compliance with Department of Adult and Aging Services (DAAS) regulations and all reporting requirements.
Develops, plans, and implements caregiver training, Memory Cafes, caregiver education and resources. Completes all Family Caregiving reporting requirements.
Evaluates the effectiveness of new and current health-related activities.
Assist in the development of community resources and works cooperatively with other agencies.
Provides peer counseling and conducts support groups on related topics, i.e., Alzheimer Support Groups and other caregiver resources.
Completes and maintains certification in Mental Health/First Aide Training instructor, offer this course as part of our evidenced based training.
Documents all outreach activities and submits information required for reporting purposes.
Prepares program and financial reports for funding sources.
Prepares all narrative, statistical, billing, and programmatic reports as required.
Supervises all staff that are delineated on the organizational chart, in conjunction with any volunteers, or contracted workers assigned to this position.
Works with agency staff to identify volunteer needs and will use staff input to create accurate job descriptions as needed for various departments and programs.
Provide oversight to the Outreach Program Coordinator,which can include publicspeaking events, health fairs, and general community outreach.
Performs other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work,Business, Public Programs, Health Education and four (4) years related experience preferably in Case Management. Two (2) years of supervisory experience. Current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or must pass Fingerprint Card and Central Registry background clearance, possess a current AZ Driver’s License and 39-month driving record.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE NEEDED
Experience in areas of caregiving, Case Management, public speakingbehavioral health, social services, or gerontology. Knowledge and familiarity of aging issues, social services, wellness programs, and community resources. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer literate: Outlook, Microsoft Word & Excel. Ability to prepare records and reports. Ability to conduct presentations to groups. Ability to use good judgment and the ability to work independently and with varied workloads. Well organized and detail oriented. Ability to apply rules and regulations as appropriate. Ability to empower assigned staff andvolunteers to be effective in their roles. Ability to work with individuals of various social, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
