We’re looking for a bright and motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in the New England region.

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer position is ideal for someone looking to build their skills for career advancement and professional growth. The ideal candidate will be familiar with relevant Michigan regulations and have at least 5 years of experience in the environmental consulting industry.
A Day in the life of Senior Geotechnical Engineer
- Develop and implement construction and earthwork designs for various infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Design and optimize earth support systems for excavation and retaining wall projects, considering factors such as soil properties, groundwater conditions, and project specifications.
- Conduct existing design and peer reviews to identify potential improvements and mitigate risks associated with geotechnical elements of projects.
- Perform field instrumentation and analysis to monitor the behavior of soil and rock structures, interpreting data to inform engineering decisions.
- Conduct forensic assessments to investigate the causes of geotechnical failures and provide recommendations for remediation and prevention.
- Evaluate foundations for structures, including shallow and deep foundation systems, and provide design recommendations based on site-specific conditions.
- Analyze ground improvement techniques and recommend appropriate methods to enhance soil properties and support foundation systems.
- Design and evaluate pavements for roads, highways, and other transportation infrastructure projects, considering factors such as traffic loading, subgrade conditions, and material properties.
- Conduct resource evaluations to assess the feasibility of development projects, including site suitability assessments and geotechnical risk analyses.
- Design rock anchor systems for slope stabilization, rockfall protection, and other geotechnical applications, ensuring stability and durability of the structures.
- Perform slope stability and landslide analyses using advanced geotechnical modeling techniques, identifying potential hazards and recommending mitigation measures.
- Lead or contribute to stand-alone or bundled geotechnical and environmental investigations, coordinating field activities, laboratory testing, and data analysis to support project objectives.
- Direct, support, and mentor junior staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the Pinchin team
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on construction, earthwork, and foundation design.
- Ability to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, and the ability to pass a company physical
